Well the Bonnie and I took a spill today, at about 35-ish mph we came around the corner and there it was...a big arse patch of gravel...just ready to ruin some motorcyclist day. I knew I was going to hit it pretty hard so I straightened the bike up (as I was in the middle of a sweeping right turn.) to take my right leg out from underneath the bike and it happened. The rear tire felt like someone with unlimited strength pulled from the bottom of the left side and tossed me over...very surreal...I went airborne, landed on my left shoulder and left side of my helmet...then skidded about 5'? My father was behind me the whole time and saw everything...He said he was expecting the worse and that I wasn't getting up. Anyhow...enough of the drama. Here is what I can "see" is wrong with my bike.

Damaged - Dent in top of the tank (have no idea how that happened, it never touched anything? turn signal gone, headlight ring rashed, axle nut, front edge of front fender, brake lever trashed, brake res. lines bent, mirrors rashed, forks feel as though they are out of alignment...I know I should not have ridden it home...It was difficult...I suggest no one ever does that! 2 week old Super bars bent down and in, speedo shifted, a few nicks on the engine side cases, left rear exhaust rashed pretty bad...and to think I have a new exhaust on it's way! That sucks! rear brake lever pushed up...Now that's what I can visibly see...Not sure about the frame or the forks, although the forks don't feel right.

All in all, that ***** bike fired right up and got me home...Ruined my new jacket...helmet is done as it did it's job, boots are scratched up, but ready to ride another day, gloves are toast...I'm sore, Feel like I just wrestled a grizzly Bear and he won! Someone was "watching over me" today. Will be calling the shop tomorrow to take it in...Then I'll call the insurance Co. Monday...

My buddies think they'll just total it? What do you think? It's only 5 months old!! At least I'm here to type this...

Ride safe...Ride On!

Sorry to hear Rev! I know how you feel,

Don't worry about the bike, as you said, insurance will look after that. You just concentrate on getting better.

all the best,

john

Revolt, glad you're ok. Bikes are easy to fix (or salvage). We don't fix (or salvage) so well.

and not to be crude, rude, or insensitive...

if you want to sell that gas tank PM me...

Glad you are ok, and that you have insurance (I don't)
If they total it try to buy it back. I'll buy the engine if it's for sale, I break them faster than I can find them :hammer:

Hope your ok dude. GRAVEL SUCKS! But be glad you can walk away man. I have had my share of spills over the years.
As far as the bike goes let the ins co check it out . I had a mis hap with a dog , bike and i went down. Ins. co. totaled the bike , frame was slightly bent. I bought it back from the ins co and repaired all the cosimetics but left the kink in the frame. Rode for 2 more years , sold it ,bought a 79 Bonnie with 1,600 miles on it . SWEEEEET machine. Sold it back in 91. S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!t :brk:

Sorry to hear about the crash. Years ago I went over the handlebars of my bike. When I got up and went to inspect the bike, I also had a big dent in the top of the gas tank. The speculation was that I kicked it on the way over the bars.

The important thing is that you got up and walked away. Always a good thing. Insurance will take care of the rest.

When a fellow rider has an accident, it really sads me!
Revolt, priorities first, I'm glad that you tell us what happened, and wish you a prompt full recovery.
About the bike , don't worry, if it is a total, you get a new one, or buy the salvage back and fix it!.
If is not a salvage the Ins. Co. will take care of you, either you are cover.
Wish you the best!

Revolt,

I hate to read this, but Amen to the fact you survived relatively unhurt. Just think what must have been running thru your Father's mind at the time. Lucky Dad didn't have a heart attack or something.

And if you think your sore today.... wait until tomorrow. :-D
