After buying my Speedmaster in April 05 and having the alarm fitted by the bike shop and me sayin to everyone what a great thing the alarm is and me not having any problems with it. I would like to say the bike is booked into the bike shop to have it removed. I have not been able to disable the alarm so that I can go for a ride. I replaced batteries in both of the fobs with it only working a couple of times before it went back to the previous problem. I am doing 600 kms a week just to and from work and cannot afford the down time, so out it comes on Firday unless the shop can promise me they can fix it 100%.

I haven't had any problems with mine but I've only had it in for 3 weeks or so. Why all of a sudden is it giving you grief? You say it was fine and now it's not, something must have happened. I do know I fitted mine myself and that it was really easy and if I had your problem, I'd have a look at all the connections and if I couldn't fix it, I'd just take the thing off. Reading posts from the other site, most people (95% or so) reckon it's a good buy. One last thing, you also say you had the bike shop fit it. Well when I bought mine new off ebay at a "off the back of a truck" price, it came with all the instructions which I can guarantee are really easy to follow.

Just a suggestion but why don't you try to get it fixed under warranty or if they can't fix it, get them to take it off but ask them for the instructions and the unit. Then when you have time, you might be able to revisit it yourself. Just a suggestion cos I know myself, it's just nice know the bike is protected.

G'day,

Can you point me in the direction of where you bought it off e-bay from, I might look at purchasing one myself.

patriot604, hopefully they'll find something minor with it and it'll be re-reinstated back to normal for you. If you're interested keep us posted.

Clintd01, I believe it was a one off and not something that happens regularly. What I can say is that it came from a Triumph Dealer / shop in America and by the look of it, he couldn't sell it. What makes me think that is, on the sealed box it showed date of manufacture as 2004 with the original price as $410 US but that price had been scratched out with a lower price next to it etc. I guess he wanted to get it off his shelves and ebay (luckily for me) was the best way to do it.

Anyway, I suggest you might want to do a search on ebay with "Triumph Speedmaster/America Alarm Kit" or similar and hope something comes up. Otherwise you are looking at over $500 new which is, like most original Triumph stuff, too overpriced for most (including my) tastes.

The alarm is gone it started working again as I was taking it down to the shop in the back of the ute but then stopped working when they started playing with it at the shop so out it has come and time for me to go back to a disc lock. I like the alarm but I really need to be able to walk out to the bike in the morning and just hit the starter button and it work rather than heading out there and not knowing if it will start. I still go to turn the alarm off as I start to walk up to it.

But I am happy now that the Speedy is working again.
