OK, so I thought I had this figured out, but I'm hitting a dead-end (my searches proved unfruitful).

Any bar-end mirrors that will work on a Speedy?

I picked up a pair of Napoleon-style bar ends, but I'm not sure how I can modify them to work on the Speedy. Back when my wife owned a TBS, I followed the instructions on Webbikeworld by using Velox bike handlebar plugs to allow the Napoleons to fit (and worked pretty well), but unfortunately, the Speedy has 1 inch diameter bars. I'm unsure if this will work.

What have you all done to affix bar-end mirrors to your Speedy, or what products worked best?

do you have the stock bars with the threaded inserts in each end?

If so, you can drill and tap them to match the bolt coming out of the napoleons, and just bolt them directly on.

If you have bars that are open get some clear tubing that matches the ID of the bars and the OD of the napoleons expanding rubber collet and it will fill the gap.

Yes, stock handlebars (just picked up the bike new on Sat). Any other options aside from physically modifying the stock handlebars? I really hate having to do something that I can't undo, easily enough, in the event of wanting to sell the bike at a later date.

And forgive my ignorance, but what is "tapping"? I presume it's how you'd re-thread the new larger hole?

EDIT: Nevermind, I looked it up online. Now I know what those tap sets at Sears were for. :hammer:

tapping= rethread the hole.

Yes, that mod using the stock mirrors is perfect. Unfortunately, I'll need to pick up additional metal working tools to fashion the brackets. I don't suppose 4mm aluminum would be that difficult to cut, either.

Might be a fun winter project.

all you really need is a file, a hacksaw, a drill, and a good vise. Aluminum is really easy to work with.
