I would appreciate any feedback or advice from those of you who have installed bar end handlebar mirrors, and your experience with vibration and a sharp or fuzzy mirror image.

I just purchased and installed Triumph's new and expensive (US $105) chromed bar end mirrors, and have mixed reviews. The fit and finish are first class, and I really like the new overall look, especially how the front end handlebar's profile is now lower and less cluttered. However, at speeds above 45 mph, I am really disappointed that the mirrors vibrate to the extent that the rear view is just a fuzzy blur, unlike the sharp image that my stock rear view mirrors delivered.

Is this normal for bar end mirrors to vibrate more and be less functional? Right now, the Triumph mounting instructions show a metal to metal mounting technique, with just an Allen head bolt holding everything on. I was surprized that the bar end mirror didn't have something extending to the inside of the open handlebars. It's just two circular rings, metal to metal, squeezed together with this single bolt. I am going to try and install a circular rubber gasket between the end of the handlebars and the mirror attachment.

Regards.

I've had both Napolean and CRG bar end mirrors with no problem at all on my Scrambler. The aftermarket bar I'm using is the superbike bar from 650central.com. I know that doesn't help, but good luck.

I've had luck with my CRG's, and some cheap knockoff Napolean wannabe's (read CHEAP), as well as the CRG lookalikes I just bought from Cycle Gear for $49.00!

However, they are ALL meant to be mounted in 7/8" bars....., so I have used either tube from the hardware store or I cut up an old innertube to wrap around the mounting hardware. Perhaps I'm arresting vibration by doing this(?)
