Im looking around to buy a T100. I live south of Atlanta, GA. The price on the T100 in my area is $8000-$8300 + $500 prep fee! I found a dealer in Chatanooga, TN (Southern Powersports) with '07 T100's for $7383 and no prep fee. Anyone have any experience with buying through them?
Also, I told my dealer here in town that Chattanooga is selling for $1000 less than him. He replied that he had heard people who bought bikes from the Chattanooga dealer experienced more problems with their machines. I dont believe that for a second. Salesman scare tactic if you ask me. And here is my final question...The dealer in my town said they wouldnt work on a Triumph from the dealer in Chatanooga, Is that possible??? Can my dealer here really refuse to service my bike even under factory warranty? I would think any triumph dealer would be obligated to perform repairs. Anyone know??? Thanks!

I would ride 100 miles to avoid that dealer Do you really want to trust your bike to an asshat with that attitude?

I am astonished at the the wildly varing attiitude of dealers toward CSI (customer satisfaction index).

I spent several years as a Sales Manager and a GM at car stores and I know that auto manufacturers come down hard on service issues from sub par dealers.

I think it is related to the price of admission. A marginal businessman can scrape up the dollars to obtain a motorcycle franchise but does't have a clue on how to run a successful business.

You know the funny thing is...I live in Newnan, GA. The Triumph Motorcycles of America Headquaters is in my town, literally less than a mile from my dealer here. You would think we would have the best dealer in the country!!!

I may be wrong but I think the dealer must deal with any warranty or servicing even though you didn't buy the bike from them. This is part of their agreement with Triumph.
He would probably find ways to avoid helping you though like saying he can't fit you in yet because his workshop is booked up for weeks, or cancelling your appointments because his mechanic is off sick.

$7,383 for a new T100 ?????

Here in UK they cost $11,347.

I have no idea how the price is so low...that's why im being very cautious and doing my research. I plan on placing an order for a Black/White T100 in February.

I recall reading about this dealer is tn. before....something to the effect of his price's are always lower than anyone else's. I'm sure there's a reason for that, underlying motives...like writeoff's.

It's a shame your local dealer has the attitude he does, he could eat that prep fee. I paid full msrp for my bike when I bought it, I seen her...and she spoke to me. I didnt care to haggle, that doesnt mean you shouldnt, just do it smartly.

I've read of several people getting good deal's from dealers, another consideration might be to check out a leftover 06...or even a 05. A 790 equipped bonnie will cost less to insure, and have better cams for topend power should you modify it in the future...ie: 904 kit etc..

VAT, my good man, VAT. You get screwed coming, going, and in between. We've been fighting its introduction here (the US of A) for many years; thus far, successfully!

VAT in Britain is what, 16% or so? But it's included in the price, so we're comparing apples and oranges. In my state (Maryland) we have to add 5% sales tax to the purchase price, which brings it a bit closer. Most states have similar taxes or fees on motor vehicles.

It's still hard to figure out the rest of the price difference, though. With the dollar on its long-term downward slide vs the pound and the euro, these bikes will probably become more expensive here in the US.

That dealer is an asshat and he should,'nt get your business.
And think of when the new Bonnevilles are made in Thailand. The price won't come down but You'll get a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that Triumph is making a bigger profit!
