I have a question. Below Air Filter on the Bonneville is a platic tube that has oil in it. My questen is were is the oil coming from as I empted the tube some time ago and it has refilled half way up the tube sence then. Surly not from the carb but I can see no other path.

If I am thinking correctly the tube your speaking of the airbox drain. Oil gets to the box from the crankcase vent tube. If your getting a lot you may have issues but otherwise it is there to drain goo. I have not even checked mine in.......4000 miles so I can not give you something to compare to.

Danm..... gotta check mine too. Not to worry, it seems to happen more when the bike is new, but can continue to happen thereafter none the less. It's really nothing more than excess oil being blown by and caught in the air box. One way to prevent it is to fill your oil such that the oil level (10" AFTER a warmed engine has been shut down) half way up the site glass. So rather than putting sooo much oil in your engine that the level is at the top of the window (10" AFTER a warmed engine has been shut down), don't add any oil if you find your level to be at mid-window (10" AFTER a warmed engine has been shut down).

(Ten to fifteen minutes AFTER you shut your engine down upon returning from a ride.)

If you are still using your airbox, it is a good idea to drain it periodically. This is particularly important if you have removed the "snorkle" from the airbox inlet, as rainwater can infiltrate and fill up the bottom. Let it fill too much and the filter can become largely blocked. This will really mess with your jetting...
