Over the past year I've tried a couple of things to improve the quality of my headlight.
Following the sage advice here, first I replaced the original bulb with the Silverstars H4.
Much better.

Then I replaced the H4 with the H6024XV sealed beam.

MUCH better.

Today after still wishing I could see the road better I took the simplest solution of all.
I finally adjusted the headlight per the Haynes manual.

Let's just say it was WAY high.

Idiot!? No Way!. Man Law would not allow us to read the directions for at least a year and you made it twice that long. You are a testament to the fine standards we know and embrace as man! Our genetics blessed us in this approach to problem solving and it up to each of us to continue to develop and mature in this philosophy on dealing with life's mysteries. Manuals, maps, asking for help,.... ha! Where's the adventure with those resources....

It IS a direct replacement. However, mine rattled so bad I put a wrap of 1/4" diameter nylon rope around the back of the sealed beam and under the back retainer ring to keep it tight. :wink:

I remember when i first got my 05 america i had the same problem. Then i realized that coming from the factory it was shining way up in the air. I found a "level" parking log with a building on it. I loosened up the adjusters so that I could bump the headlight up and down with my hand. Then at night i went to the lot and pulled up to the building where i could see where the light shone on the side of the wall and lowered it down alot. For the final adjustment I pulled out on a dark road and bumped the beam back up to where the big rectangle of light was about 50 feet out in front of me. Big difference. Years ago I remember having a gold wing with a knob on the dash i could raise and lower the beam by hand. Out on a dark road I remember that i put my high beams on and cranked the adjuster down so that the beam was about 50 feet out ahead of me and i just left it there high beams on 24 hours a day. Visibility was great and it was low enough so that it didn't bother anyone at stop lights.

Funny that, had exactly the same on mine. It was doing a great job of guiding Qantas jets into Perth International before I shifted it.

I'm left wondering what Pre delivery inspection actually means. :wink:

I don't have a picture, but they should be on Triumph's web site. I can't believe they would not be legal in Perth, as I said, they make the rider more visable. They don't put an on coming vehicle at a disadvantage that should keep them from being street legal. Anyway, I love 'em, and run with them on even in the daylight.
