My brother just got an 05 Thruxton leftover. He just ordered today the BC Predetors and airbox removal kit. I know its coming with a jetkit for this setup but wondering what has been working for everyone here in terms of jet sizes.
Thanks

I have a 790 and they sent me 145 mains 45 pilots and 1 shim for the needles. I got the pipes and the air box kit as well. Ran great at wot. Haven't had a chance to experiment yet.

I have the same motor as his Thruxton, the 865cc, with the same pipes and airbox elim kit.
I have 45 pilots, 155 mains, and Thruxton needles with 2 shims, I think my mixture is set to 1.5 turns out.
That should get him close, also, I'm at sea level.

Great, so your T100 is basically a Thruxton motor and carbs? Were at sea level too but in NJ. I've never done much carb work but was going to try and do the work for my brother to save on labor. I've been reading on the forums here and it doesn't seem like too hard of a job. BC is sending the jet kit for this setup so everything should be good. Does the Thruxton need to shim the jet needles also or just the T100 with Thruxton needles?
Thanks

the motor and carbs are exactly the same, you will probably need to put a shim or 2 on the needles.
You'll want to get this too:
newbonneville carb screw kit
Be careful taking the stock carb screws off. They strip so easy you won't believe it.

I'm very surprised you are shimming thruxton needles with that size main jet. Have you don a plug chop? See my post- I'm running rich with no shims, 140 mains

On my T100 Bonnie (865cc), I have the NARK, K&N filters, hot ignition wires and coils, iridium plugs, ProCom Igniter, D&D pipes, stock needles and 40 pilots. I run 135 mains at about sea level + in the Birmingham AL area. It is about right unless I get over Deals Gap ALT-3,500FT and then it is too rich to run clean!! This main jet action is only over 5,000 RPM. I will have to rejet to go to to the mountains! Smaller mains is all . Last trip up there I had to take the air filters off to get it to even think about running 7,000 rpm. Next trip I will put 125 or 130 mains in before I go. Maybe lots of folks are running too rich?? My bike is pretty fast and is regeared with a 19 countershaft sprocket. No problems at all. 135's do the job fo rme.

That's strange Hivel, at least compared to my setup.
Like I said before, I have 2 shims on the Thrux needles and 155 mains, it runs good. I just rode to Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon, which are about 7,000 to 10,000 feet and I had no problems running to redline plenty of times.
Mine runs pretty strong. I have done a plug chop and they look the right color (khaki-ish).

listo,
What you are reading is real world differences for bikes that are manufactured to be nearly alike. The best advice I can give is to start with the jets supplied with the silencers and airbox removal kit--then get it on a dyno with EGA to get the correct jetting and needles for your setup. Jetting usually varies widely between 790cc and 865cc 360 degree motors with similar mods. The jetting can vary quite a bit between motors with the same cc's and like mods; hence, the recommendation to get bonnie on a dyno with EGA.
Good luck,
Larry

Thanks Guys. all the parts showed up yesterday for my brothers Thruxton. Haven't looked at the jets to see what sizes they were. I know no shims were supplied for the needles though.
