The New York Times is calling the motorcycle in this picture a vintage Yamaha,

"Jessica Prokup, on a vintage Yamaha."

NYTimes Article

and in the article, they totally miss out on the classic history of Triumphs in the cusom/chopper scene.

I emailed a note to the corrections department, but I havent' seen any changes yet.

Apparently their attention to the bike was distracted by something.

Funny how she makes the white and tangerine T100 look a lot better than I will ever be able to.

I took the time to e-mail them about the incorrect captioning of this photo and received an almost immediate response. I wasn't requesting a correction in the print edition, just a request to correct the caption on their web site. Here is the response:

"Dear Mr. Francisco:

Thank you for reading The Times, and for taking the time to raise this point about our reference to the motorcyle in our article on souped-up rides. I will alert the editors who handled this article.

When we run corrections, they appear on Page A2 of the print editions. And the day they are published, you can find them under the "Corrections" label on the home page of nytimes.com. If the editors determine that no correction is warranted, someone will be in touch to explain why that is the case.

We depend on readers like you, Mr. Francisco, to keep us on our collective toes and insist that we uphold the standards you have come to expect of The Times.

Best regards,

Dear Corrections Editor:

In the automotive section article printed yesterday entitled Today, a Souped-Up Ride Isnt Just for a Harley, the slideshow on your web site incorrectly references Jessica Prokup, on a vintage Yamaha. The white and orange motorcycle in the picture in not a vintage Yamaha but is actually a modern Triumph Bonneville styled on the classic Triumph twins of the sixties and early seventies.

It would be really great of you if you could correct the caption on your web site as these superb modern Triumphs deserve all the good publicity that they can get.

Thank you,

Chuck Francisco

Just in case you didn't know, Jessica Prokup is an accomplished motorcyclist and currently is the editor of "Roadbike" magazine. "Roadbike is published by the same people as "Motorcyclist".......... and yes ....she IS HOT!
