hi all,

has anyone noticed differences in their bike's performance when running fuel that's now being used at the gas stations? the gas stations in the mid-atlantic and around my region recently started labelling their pumps as 10% blend. up until recently my bonnie's jetting has been pretty darn good with no popping or backfiring. now all the sudden when using this fuel i get alot of backfiring when shutting the throttle and revving down through the rpm's.

can this be new fuel related? have they always used this gas without labelling the pumps? any thoughts?

Here in SC they have been selling the 10% Ethenol for years at some pumps but always posted as such. Less BTU's in Ethenol so no engine will run as well, like the cars that run E85 but get way worse MPG.

That said I have run the 10% and not really noticed a diff. But now that you have brought it up I am gonna be looking.

Crazy thing is my bike just ALWAYS seems to run GREAT! Me likes.

They have had the new fuel since I got my 2005 Bonneville, but my 1969 Daytona needed dramatic rejetting, from 170 mains to 150 (still slightly rich), needle down a groove, 3.5 carb slides from 2.5.

The Daytona seems to run rich with the new fuel needing smaller jets...

I did nothing to the bike otherwise, and it was fine in early spring, late spring after the alcohol it ran like ***** till I rejetted.
