Is this normal? Maybe it's was always there and it's just more noticable on louder exhaust. Here's my set up. Air box gone, K&N cone filters, Emgo megaphone mufflers modified baffles, AI long gone, 140 mains, 42 pilots, 3 turns out on air mixture, stock needle and 1 shim. Starts good, but since cooler weather hit 40 deg in the mornings I use a some choke. After a short warm up it runs good. Strong acceleration, through all gears and rpm's. and I don't notice any dead or flat spots. But when I let up on the throttle and let it decelerate in gear I hear kind of a rumbling and slight popping, not what I would consider a backfire, but a " blumb bum bum bum bum....." It diminishes as I slow down, pull in the clutch and let it idle and the noise stops. If this is normal it doesn't bother me, just want to make sure I'm tuned right. I have a growing collection of main and pilot jet sizes, and don't mine buying others to try. I also have a set of thruxton needles that I have not tried yet. All the jetting is really fast and easy to do especially with the air box gone.

That all goes with the mods you've made I think. Sounds like a real old Brit bike now - learn to enjoy it and also enjoy the look on HD riders' faces - they can't make out what is it - is it a member of the ride out farting?

I was hoping that was what it was. I do like the sound. Just one more thing to check and that is that the carbs are synchronized. Just need a set of vacuum gages. I think I have it just about where it should be, at least without having it put on on a dyno. Starts good, idles, accelerates good and is loud!!! Dang it's hard to type and watch the Cardinals on TV at the same time.
