How do you get to the stock inline fuel filter (not the tank filters)? My understanding is that there is an inline filter at the tee between the two carbs.

Do you need to pull the carbs to get at it?

Thanks

LS1,
Disconnect the line at the T from the tank and it is there. My old one is landfill. I fitted a new in line filter. The one in the tank will go when I get a round tuit.

So once the line is disconnected from the tee you can just pull out the inline filter?

Will try this weekend.

Thanks

Since my bike has only 200 miles on it I decided to install an inline filter and checked various comments on the forum. I purchased the Pingel Filter with the bronze element which has a diameter just larger than a quarter and overall length about 2 inches. I cut the fuel line about 1 inch past the upper rear engine bracket where the preformed fuel line comes down from the petcock. I pushed the filter on ( carburetor side) and secured it with a worm drive clamp. I pulled the line going to the petcock and cut off about an inch and them proceeded to stretch it through the brackets and attach to the filter. If you postion the clamp just right it fits perfectly between the two engine mount brackets. This resulted in no kinks or restrictions and the top of the filter rests against the rear engine mount brackets. This was a great install since it could all be done from the right side of the bike.

Since I the bike was so new I did not remove the filter down at the tee fitting. ( I'd probably have to remove the carbs to do that.)

I checked the "stock fuel filter" (actually it is a fuel screen--not a filter) at 12000 miles and it looked like new, so I put it back in place and quit worrying. :-D

Similar to Larry, I checked the carb bowls when I re-jetted at about 5K mi and they were sediment-free so just left well enough alone.
