My girlfriend was checking her hair in my mirror and her pant leg touched the bend on my front headerpipe... well don't cha know it left a big brown burn gob/stain on the pipe. I've tried some acetone, brasso, chrome cleaner and WD-40. Nothing seems to break it down.

Anybody in Triumphland got a remedy that might help (besides losing my girlfriend)? She's on notice!

Hi,
Try running your bike untill the pipe is hot again, then use some 3 or 4 zero steel wool with a welding glove or oven mitt.It should come off quite easy. You can use your Girlfriends nail polish remover to do a final cleanup after it cools down.I had a similar issue a while back with my BMW F650GS and my Wifes nylon windbreaker.

Thanks Rover... I'll give it a shot. I've been out in the garage working it for the past hour. OCD central in my house tonight.

Ya know the little knucklehead was wearing a bandanna now that I think of it. Must have been the "lipliner?" she was checking.

I have one pair of boots that melts on my pipes when I put down the kickstand, but I have another pair that doesn't melt. When the melted rubber is on the pipes I get the boots that don't melt and rub it off when the pipes are hot.

works like a champ.

My textile pants melted onto the header on my Scrambler. Nothing seemed to work except scraping at it with a nickel when the pipes were hot. The nickel is softer than the pipe so it won't scratch.
