Just curious if it is possible and practical to put a 2nd disc brake on an 07 America?

Thanks,
Doug

For the 07 bikes it is easy to put a second break on the America. You do this by buying the 07 Speedamster. Aside from the breaks there really isn't much of a difference now!

It can be done but it'll cost you a bundle. Go to bikebandit.com and click on "OEM parts" and see what it will cost for a second disc, caliper, hoses, fork leg and possibly brake cylinder/resivoir, tho i don't know if that part is different. You can look at the part #'s for the america and speedmaster MC/res and see if they're the same. Knowing how expensive OEM triumph parts are i'd say the right fork leg along not counting the rest of the right fork will probably cost you $300, and thats if you can even but it seperatly. Then theres the wheel.....i don't even know if theres a hub available to do it, but that would be a few hundo too not counting having it laced to your rim. Otherwise you'd need a speedy wheel, and i happen to know the cost of that.......$600 ! I imagine you'd be looking at somewhere in the neighborhood of a $800 to a grand to do it, probably closer to a grand, maybe well over.

Thanks, looks like it would be cheaper and easier to buy a Speedmaster and put America seats on it.

Yep. And funny thing is, i was considering selling my speedmaster and getting one of the new 07 americas and putting a speedy seat on !!! I'd be willing to swap with you, but i'm not sure i'll be doing that and even if i do i can't till i see whether the rumored 1500 is going to show soon as has been rumored. But who knows.

Yep and the second coming of Chist and Buddha and Krishna and Mohammed.
I hope I got everyone. The 1500cc air cooled is impossible. But we hope.

It's supposedly water cooled. and a triple. But i would think air is possible. Look at harleys. they've had air cooled bikes for years that are bigger than 1500. Theres a guy at BA who swears he has an inside source and that from what he's been told theres a 1500 water cooled triple with belt drive and radiator under the seat that will be unveiled in november and go on sale as a 08 in early 2007 along with the 07 linup. And yeas, i know what you're thinking. I also questioned the likelihood of a under the seat radiator but someone cited a bike that already has that. So it can be done. Anyways, he seems real convincing so i'm not going to write it off just yet. Someone posted a pic at a french site. Don't know if theres any reality to this drawing or if it's just someone's fantasy. Shaft instead of belt and radiator up front, but interesting never the less....

Don't know about the 07, but Triumph had marketed a second disk setup/kit for the America. Don't know why they wouldn't continue to do so.

My father-in-law has a Yamaha Roadstar 1600cc and it is air cooled. Nice bike, just a little too big for me. I could go for a speedmaster or T-100 that has an 1100cc engine.
