I read another post where someone said that if you relocate the ignition module, the Smuggler will bolt right up without shims. Well, I took off my seat and removed the ignition box. I dry-fitted the seat before relocating anything and the seat still did not come close to fitting. It was resting on the bump stops just as it had before removing the module. Anyone have any ideas?

Send it out to Rodburner--he can make that high dollar seat fit!...may cost you your old seat though... :-D :-D :-D
Seriously, I'm sorry to hear you are having such difficulties. I have read of more minor difficulties, but none as bad as yours seems to be. I'm still amazed that a company with such poor customer relations and poor fit quality products can sell all they can make and have a backorder waiting list. This sure must say something about this country; however, I'll leave that for the philosophical minded.

JT,will it get closer if the rivets are drilled out and the bumpers removed? You can always drill new holes and use a couple of the good bumpers from your Triumph seat. That seems kinda harsh on a 750 dollar seat, but Corbin seems immune from corrective actions.

Hmmm, that doesn't sound like a bad idea. The Corbin bumpers could always be re-installed if necessary.

They can indeed.I thought they were too hard to be much good. The stockers are soft rubber, easily cut and thinned and absorb much more vibration transmitted through the frame. The Corbin pan is very rigid and thick,so you wouldn`t need all 8,maybe 2 front and rear.I don`t know what the Smugglers rear mount looks like, but anything can be made to fit anything if you want it too. I hope to have some pics of the new Sportster seat I "won" on ebay this weekend [first time on ebay, kinda fun] and I`m looking forward to making it work on the Bonnie. :-D

On mine I found an easy solution. The Smuggler has an L shaped bracket on the rear that is where the screws for the seat goes. With mine I removed the L shaped bracket from the bottom of the smuggler and inserted washers under the L shaped bracket to act as shims. I used enough to be about 1/4" in height. The washers should be in between the seat pan of the smuggler and the L shaped bracket. After I tightened the screws and retried the seat it was perfect. Give it a shot, you will LOVE the seat.

Odd thread. My Smuggler dropped on as a perfect fit. Maybe I just got lucky.

Maybe Corbin is just getting tired of fixing the ones that have come back and are doing something about the poor fit, after 700-800 bucks for a seat it better show up and be able to just be put right on.

cobra935o,
From what I have read, I sure wouldn't bet that it would happen--in fact I would bet otherwise. Once you have one that doesn't fit, the nightmare is worse if you try to get them to correct the problem. It is actually better to make the corrections yourself unless you are VERY patient and COOL as a cucumber when dealing with "No Service" customer service :-D
