has anyone tried putting mirrors on that weren't meant for Triumph? Some aftermarket say Honda or other metric bike mirrors?

ratgirl...some of us have installed tha Yamaha V-max style mirrors. They're 10 mm just like the Triumphs and will thread on to the existing Bonnie mirror stalk (no need to mess with the bars).

Ratgirl

I bought eliptical mirrors at an autojumble for £20. Didn't use the stalks just took the mirror part off and it threaded on fine. When they talk about left/right hand threads they are referring to the way they fasten to the bars - that's not what you need worry about. The actual glass heads are all right hand thread.
By the way, eliptcal mirrors are so much better than the round ones Triumph fit - goodness knows why they fit them as all I see is my shoulder!

I put some bicycle bar-end mirrors on my Thruxton (with drag bars) They work pretty well. I'm sure the $80 ea bar-end mirrors would be nicer and vibrate less, but these cost $12.99 ea at the local bicycle shop!

wow, not a bad look!

I have the Napoleon bar end mirrors, they're bigger than most tiny bar end mirrors and you can see a ton!

no vibration issues.

I fitted an EMGO bar end mirror on my left side. The bolt it came with didn't fit, but I just got one at Canadian Tire. It looks totally retro and only cost 15$! It vibrates the faster you go, but I only really use it at stop lights anyway.

BTW, don't you just love how the Bonneville's on Triumph's website are sans mirrors?

Never liked the standard bonnie mirrors until I got the extenders from Peter Jenks. half the length of other (Jack Lilley) makes and made of billet aluminium so extremely light. Minimising vibration (no noticeable difference to stock) unlike the others which are steel, heavy and vibe a lot. at 19.99GBP a pair these are lifesavers. http://www.triumph-bonneville.com/pr...roducts_id=119
available in black or nickel.

ratgirl. i put these rectanglular mirrors on mine.

click here to check them out..

they are on the stock stalks but the shape lowers the profile and gets rid of the mickey mouse ears. i found them on ebay. i think i just searched for "10mm mirrors".

Myself and others have put on those 4 inch stem, clamp mirrors. They just pinch down on the bar. You can't see a darn thing......which is only important if the cops are following you.
