Hi gang,

I have bought a set of TORs from our fellow cowboy Phil here (Road Dog). He's a very kind and solid guy, so if anyone wants to sell to or buy from him: do it.

Before buying, I went up and down these posts to find out which pipes were good for me. Some people said the TORs were louder, but "still too quiet". Living in polite Switzerland, I guessed that was just right for me.

And after mounting the pipes last Friday I'm telling you: Those TORs are just perfect! I love them. They give the bike what you miss on it, without going into vulgar. As mentioned somewhere else here, your bike will sound exactly like Steve McQueen's Mustang in Bullitt, which is not only an exact, but also a very convincing description (I would buy TORs only from this picture).

I shall add a little movie to this post.

And I really do not understand how anyone could want pipes a lot louder than these.
But maybe that's just me being so Swiss.

Oh, the numbers: TORs, UNI filter, Norman Hyde bellmouth. 125 mains, 42 pilots, 2 shims.

For me, it's kind of funny about TORs. Sometimes I wish they were quieter, and other times I wish they were louder. So I guess they're just right.

Glad you're happy with them. You don't want to ruin the wonderful Swiss tranquility.

Excellent job Thomas, sounds like the same set-up as mine so I know it's just right..LOL

I'm working on the comfort and handling now with a Corbin seat and Hagon suspension, soon the bike will be perfect and set up for me exactly

Hey Thomas,

I'm thrilled that you finally got the TORs delivered. Even happier that you are enjoying them so much. Now you can roar up and down those all mountains there.

PS: Cowboys ride 4-wheelers, not 2-wheelers like me!

Bupf - I'm riding on de-baffled and drilled stock pipes. I like the sound at idle but I've determined what I'm really looking for is a "ripping" sound at higher revs.

Do you hear anything like a ripping sound with the TORs at 5,000rpm??

SpeedyPete,

I would say there is a very nice ripping sound. But is your ripping my ripping? Describing the sound of an exhaust pipe is somehow like describing the taste of strawberry.

Let me give you a series of words I think describe this sound best.

1. Classy, manly, sincere, deep, bassy.
2. Lots of bass, actually.
3. It reminds me of a cougar defending its territory, when you blip the throttle at start up.
4. At full throttle the TORs become a bit angry above 4000, 5000 RPM.
But not "Hey, man, move your car!" angry, more like "Boys, let's show those Nazis who controls the skies over the Channel" angry.
5. TORs are therefore the little brother of the Supermarine Spitfire.
6. One guy here said they sound like Steve McQueen's Mustang in "Bullitt". Also very accurate.

I don't know how drilled stock pipes sound. But I surely know that the TORs are perfect for me. I wouldn't want louder pipes. I wouldn't want less loud pipes either. I want these pipes. Actually, I'm considering a TOR tattoo.

Attitude! That's the word. The TORs are all about attitude. They're about style. They turn you from a man into a gentleman.

I have had exactly the same thoughts as Bupf re the sound have qualities of feline growl and Supermarine Spitfire.

Seems like we are in the same boat as wine afficionados when it comes to the need to convey subtle info in our descriptions.

BTW, I like my TORS, too. Especially the little growl when gently blipping at idle. Awesome.
