How much is the cost of the Bonneville 12,000 mile sevice?
This includes the first valve adjustment, and a lot of other
stuff. How much does it usually cost?

I have heard aprroximately $350-400+. Although I would like to hear from people who have actually gotten the service done.

The biggest cost will be incured if it needs a valve adjustment. It is simple and cheap to have the clearance checked, but adjustment is expensive. Now, I hate to say it, but if you take it to a dealer I'm sure you are going to "need" an adjustment.

If it runs good, makes no funny noises, don't bother with the valves.

Don't even take the bike to the dealer. All you need is change the oil and check it over a bit, which I usually do when I clean the bike.

The dealer will rip you off with a not-required valve adjustment- mark my words!

Unless there's something under warranty that needs to be done, don't go back.

I usually only see my dealer once: when I buy the bike.

Of course Harleys are a different story, but Triumphs and Jap bikes are ok. :-D
