Hey all. I recently got me a black bonnie. Oh how these are heavenly days!!! I plan to make mods over the next few months to make more a cafe style racer. Any suggestions (what to get/what not to get) are greatly welcome.

Cheers.

First thing I would do is replace the suspension, front and rear. I love the Ikon fully adjustable shocks and their spacer free progressive springs. Completly transformed the handling. TOR mufflers (Triumph Off Road), K&N air filter gave the puppy some more teeth (about 62 hp). Super bars, bar end mirrors, Corbin seat ect....... Stop me before I give you the full list of mods.

Here's mine so far, she's under the knife as we speak. The amount of parts sitting on my garage floor would make a normal man sick.

The front end is off, I cut and welded my headlight brackets to lower the headlight 1.5'' and the headlight bucket is getting painted black. New turn signals and taillights too...

I admire that low headlight procedure. Although I haven't installed them yet, I bought some new ears to lower mine as well, and may paint it black if I ever decide to take off the fairing (which idea I've been toying with lately). You should lower your instrument panel next. Or is it? Maybe clubman bars as well?

Responding to the initial thread topic, if you can settle for the appearance of the cafe racer, then your first needs are low handlebars and rearsets.

Mancha, I was just going back through your album looking for ideas. The Bonnie top tree is a little different than the Thrux top tree, so I'll have to play around in the Home Depot hardware section tomorrow...

Also gotta buy some bondo, dangit, those headlight brackets are so dang thin I kept burning through with my welder...I may cough up the dough for the new ears, but that means key relocation and mounting turn signals somewhere else, which all together means 100 bucks or so (much more than free).

Brooksie - I'm lovin' that bike o yours.

I've got the low cafe bars and napoleon bar-ends same as you but your corbin really makes the look.

I've got Thrux needles on order and will cut up the airbox over the winter so will look forward to some better power soon. Then its on to the seat, fender and real aftermarket pipes instead of the drilled stocks I've got now.

SloBonnie - do a little bit at a time. Its easier on your bank account and gives you something new to appreciate about the bike every few months.

I bought these:

I can't attest to their succes, however, as I've not yet installed them. One could drill turn signal holes in them.

Thanks for the words, y'all. I can definitely appreciate the make-the-mods-over-time advice (and my wife--chairperson of our spending oversight committee--says 'amen!').

Also, nice photos of your rides. Keep them coming! I love Brit iron porn! Take it easy.

Cheerio & toodle-pip.
