Hi,
question. Which pipes are TORS??

Which exchaust pipes i get when i order TBA default. I have long slash-cut pipes and they are quiet.

Are these different from which are on Triumph homepage:

--
http://www.triumph.co.uk/uk/accessories.aspx

Chrome Silencers

Part No: A9608020

- Long Slash Cut. Does not conform to EPA noise standards. For closed circuit competition use only.
--

If they are different pipes, how different sound they make?
(any examples on the internet)

Lanier,

What you really need are the short slash cut TOR's. The part number is A9608027.

I had a set of long slash cuts and didn't like them. They had a real hollow, tinny sound to them, a real annoying echo type sound.

On one of my Americas I have the short Speedmaster TOR's, they are OK, and I like the way they look, but the best sound in my opinion after owning all three is that the short slash cuts sound the best. It emulates the tone of the old meriden machines almost to a "T".

I only had the long slash cuts on for one day, I rode to work and back one day and immediately took them off. I couldn't stand the racket. I sold them to a guy at work and he likes the loudness of them, each to his own.

Trust me, the long ones will get you phone calls from p!$$ed off nieghbors.

Another plus to the shorties is that you can get at the chain easier for maintenance and rear wheel removal is eisier.

Good luck!

Glad I read these posts. I have been thinking about getting TORs because others on this forum have said they're not much louder than stock, and that's what I'm interested in along with a little gain in performance with removing the snorkle and rejetting. But I assumed the long-slash would be the quieter of the two; good to know that's not the case before investing. Brit mentioned having tried all three; which is the third? Stock? Since I haven't been able to hear what the short-slash TORs sound like, or the longs, I'd appreciate comments from anyone else running the shorts. I'm not looking for loud, just a bit better sound than stock and a little performance boost. Thanks.

I do not have the wherewithall to provide sound bites, sorry.

When I mentiond three TOR's the third was Speedmaster shorties.
See attachment. They are nice looking but the sound is not as nice as the slash shorties IMHO. They are OK but just not as cool as the short slash.

The long slash not only get in the way of chain, wheel, and tire maintenance, but they sound like ***** as well. Again, JMO.

With any of the TOR'S 135 mains seem to be just right.

WOW! You can't say ¢r@p on a Brit Bike forum!

Ironic, since the word derived from the name of the inventor of the modern day toilet, Thomas
¢r@pper a British Subject!

That is your trivia for the day guys.

Ride safe
