I bought my Speedy only a couple of months ago and actually loved it. I was used to riding larger displacement bikes but thought that the SM would work and at its price point I felt nothing else matched it in character and performance. Also, I had set my self a spending limit. However, I was riding more than I thought and for longer distances. So I started looking and test driving other bikes now ignoring my self imposed credit limit.
I test rode the Victory Kingpin, Hammer, and Jackpot. Thought the kingpin a nice bike but did not move me. The Hammer and Jackpot lasted long enough for me to find a place large enough to turn around and return to the dealership. You had to "muscle" these bikes constantly even on the easiest of corners. No thanks.
Tested the Moto Guzzi 1100 Breva. This was a very cool bike and having owned a 69 Ambassador pulled at my heart strings but was too worried about service, warranty, and parts.
I than moved onto HD. I didn't really want to be part of the that group again (93 softtail custom) but with the engine/trans upgrade it looked interesting. There were only two models that really interested me the Street Glide and Road Glide. Let me tell you that the new motor and 6 speed really do transform these bikes a really nice ride.
I wasn't really interested in any of the Yamaha, Kawi, or Suz cruisers for me no character.
Now for the rocket. Character oozes out of this thing and its size disappears once you start rolling. The power is addictive. Even with that 240 rear tire, only 10 down from the hammer, the rocket is agile for an 800lbs motorcycle.
So long story short I will be moving up a few forums but will be checking in every now and again. Thanks for all the info and sorry I was not able to contribute more. It has been crazy at work the past two months.
Thanks again and ride safe.
Scott

Good luck with the rocket. I thought about it myself for a few moments recently, but there were too many reasons to pass for me. I'm waiting on the rumored big twin.

Ambo-

It was real.

Don't let the door hit you in the glutius maximus on the way out.

:-D

Cheers and all the best!

Good luck, I'll probably be getting a Rocket myself in march, but I will never get rid of my SPEEDY.

Spank.

How close in price were the Harleys you liked to the Rocket? I still love those Harleys, so can see where you had to deliberate.

Congrats on your purchase, that Rocket is a massive beast.

Only been riding for two years and want to get more experience before I get on that much More power. When that day comes there won't be a trade in! Can't see my self parting with my Sadie and got to have at least one P-Twin in the garage.
