Russell Daylong seat for Bonnie w/backrest

I called up RD just to inquire and they said they can modify my KQ seat and add a backrest to it but they would still have to "daylong" it which would be adding their springs under the seat...etc and some bolts for the backrest to work. They said it would probably sit about the same as stock if not a tad higher. They said the small springs under the seat improve riding comfort a lot as well.

But the price is STEEP....$625....which seems ridiculous since they'd be modifying my existing seat to add a backrest and not building a new one from scratch.

Yes their seats are pricey but well worth the money. I have one on my BMW F650GS with the backrest and I don't know how I rode the bike without this seat.

I was fortunate and didn't have to but it at full price but it still was $425 and i was very leary about spending that kind of money.

I do believe (should check with them) that the seat is guaranteed for a year in terms of sending it back for them to modify it to make it correct for you.

Russell-Daylong seats are supposed to be the best aftermarket option available. I don't have one but want one. I guess chaulk it up under you get what you pay for.

Well I'm seriously thinking of adding bar risers to my Bonnie...(I have a little bit of reach to bars right now) and sending my KQ seat for them to modify and add the backrest.

Since I don't have the risers yet, I may get them first since RD wants pictures of you on the bike.....

For those of you that have had RD seats......do the springs provide any extra cushion?

I'm not sure about extra cushion but the seat gives much more support especially the "wings". They may not look real pretty but they make your "cheeks" feel real good and you can ride distances in comfort.

Geez,their "how it works' animation looks like Corbins,except with a guys butt.Those big wings look comfy compared to the stock park benches,but man,are they spendy.

Sounds like another seat project for you. With your seats and exhaust system projects, I bet the wife has all but given up on her honey-do list for you. :-D

Larry,my wifes back has kept her in constant pain for 2-1/2 years now,despite daily doses of morphine that would be lethal to you and me.She has no problem letting me tinker with my bike,at home,as long as I answer when she calls. She will give me money to buy stuff so I can cut it up and see what makes it tick. She thinks it should be my mission and duty to the forum to find the right mix of fiberglass and foam that will give us all a comfy seat,without costing 3 to 700 hundred bucks.Loud pipes are a different story though,but she is tolerant of them as well.I`ve been pretty lucky with her for 23 years and 12 days. :-D
Oh yeah,I`m writing a check for my final house payment tomorrow too.If you thought last Christmas`s Dymags were over the top,wait til this year. :-D :-D :-D
