Besides getting stung during the test ride, the Manic Salamnder bar end weights make a huge difference. They are just giant hunks of steel and dont really fit well or look good but man they work perfectly! They make my bonnie seem like a whole new bike. I can make the gears taller and let the tach tell me when to shift instead of the nerve endings in my hands.

I bought the 1" ones and they come in 6mm or 8mm. I ordered the 6mm (I thought) but they sent me 8mm. It did not matter because I was going to use my own 5mm hardware to mount them. The problem was, I could not find any 5mm machine screws that were long enough. They had to be 3.25" long to work. So I just drilled out the existing hole in the bars and tapped it to 1/4 - 20 and used easy to find 1/4" bolts. I also crammed as many steel washers in the void as I could for extra weight.

The weights make the bars about 2" wider on either side but on my long commute, it seems to make the world a nicer place to ride with an extra pound of steel on the ends of my bars.

Hmm,

Let me guess you have the dreaded M-Bar vibes.I solved the problem by hammering lead fishing weights up the bar ends then drilled a small hole through the lead to put the 5mm bolt through.I then bought a nice set of after market barend weights made for 7/8 bars and got a long enough 5mm bolt from the hardware store to screw into the stock retainer.
Anyway with about a kilogram of weight on each end the problems solved.

love the bar ends and yes I have those darn reverse m-bars. Fixed most of the vibrations by adding a highway screen. But I want to add the triumph fly screen and the vibrations will come back. So before I purchase those would the 6mm help or would the 8mm and your steps be the way to go.
