Hi,
In the process of installing Racetech Cartridge Emulators. I know some others have done this. Would anyone like me to take photos and notes?
The hardest part so far has been removing the bottom bolt the holds the damper tube into the bottom fork leg.
The rattle gun didn't work as my 8mm hex 1/2" drive was not long enough. I ended up with the bottom of the fork leg clamped in bench vice with lots of towel around it and using a regular allen key to undo the bolts.
I need to make up some adapters and drill some holes in the damper tube. I will do that at work on Friday.
Let me know if ayone wants photos.

Darcy - photos and accompanying notes would be great ... and maybe a brief evaluation of the front end before and after. I may do no more than Progressives (already installed), but am interested in what you're doing with the emulators.

Yeah! what is the number of the Emulators you are putting into the forks..... These are just 41mm KYB forks so they should have units that fit perfect....

Yes, yes y'all. that would be a big help when I get around to that myself.
So how many holes need to drilled in the damper rod, or are you planning to experiement with that?

I will take photos as I go.
The RaceTech P/n is FEGV S4101 AU$240 it needs a short spacer 1/2" or so long. Others have used PVC conduit but I have access to a lathe and aluminium stock. The notes that came with it (although not Bonnie specific) instruct the drilling of 6 x 5/16" holes at the bottom of the damping tube, through the compression damping holes. The holes have to be big enough to bypass all compression damping effect. There is another hole at top (rebound damping) of the damper tube that does not need touching.
Fitting Instructions
Stay Tuned,
Darcy

Darcy - what do you expect the emulators to do for your bike? Are you looking for a front end that's better able to handle high speed corners or for a front end that has the ability to handle road bumps small and large?
I'm trying to make my T100 ride softer but with a better-controlled ride. But I'm not certain that simply changing to Progressive springs and lighter fork oil got the front end where I want to be. However, I'm reserving final judgement until my 440s come back from the factory with standard rate springs instead of the heavy duty ones I initially ordered.
I'm staying tuned in to your project, hoping your efforts result in a better riding and handling Bonneville.
Bob
