I noticed something about my Bonneville. This is about the eigth bike I have owned and my wife has never looked twice at any of my motorcycles. With the Bonneville she has walked up and sat on it in the driveway several times. Is that what is so appealing about Bonnies? That they are so approachable and simple to hop on?

Oh well I obvoiously have too much time on my hands.
( I also need some more posts)

Freud would say that the motorcycle represents someone who can fulfill a powerful longing she has.

I'll going out on a limb here say that it represents you in her subconscious. Perhaps you've lost some weight recently? What ever the reason, don't waist the opportunity! :-D

I think my bonnie is bike number 15 or 16 and I have never had a bike that draws attention like it does, nearly every time that I go on a ride someone comments on it, yesterday I had a Maori boy hang out of his truck window, turned his radio down and said, Nice bike bro, new model, looks sweet ay, like I said , it's almost a daily occurence.

I think the Bonnie just calls to be rode. It has such a classic look and feel that it reaches even casual enthusiast, even those who may not be boomers. I think it taps into that freedom/individuality thing similar to the Harley thing, without the mass replication.

I had a little Yamaha Radian for over 16 years. It was a sweet handling little bike with lots of get up and go. The wife wouldn't ride on it. I now have a Bonneville, and while not as quick and nimble, it is still a joy to ride. The wife won't let me go for a ride without her.

Hey there notyetold.
I feel lucky to have both the Radian ( 86 ) and the Bonnie. I feel they are both special bikes in their own way. I ride the bonnie on trips and the radian on the backroads near home.
Ride Safe.

Maybe she senses how much you love your Bonnie and therefore loves it herself. Or perhaps the Bonnie simply represents the quintessential motorcycle.

To fake-philosophize further, I agree that beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder. I have liked pairs of shoes or shirts that I know others certainly didn't appreciate. But then again there are people, art, clothes etc., that everyone agrees are beautiful. And I think the Bonnie is similar in the sense that its classic lines are are appealing to everyone. At least what I think based on all the looks, driving next to for miles, and comments etc.

I couldn't muster any enthusiasm about riding a motorcycle from my wife until I had a Bonneville in the garage. I caught her sitting on it in the garage several times. She started referring to it as "her" bike and signed up for the Motorcycle Safety Course to get her license.

There is definitely something "special" about the Bonneville.

I bought my Bonneville after reading several books on the cafe' racers of the 50's and 60's. I must admit that I was nearly snagged by a Norton Commando, but am VERY glad I went with a new Bonneville. No oil leaks, electric starter, forgiving clutch, smooth throttle and sexy looks. What's not appealing about that?
