I think it might be because it's a mildly sexy' bike, not a 'power' bike, and doesn't have the 'wild-man' connotation of the sport bikes. Maybe just a controlled/subdued strength. It is not so monstrous that it puts off the non-rider, and has some very attractive lines. Color schemes are very nice-in fact, I haven't seen one that I wouldn't really be satisfied with. Just was called to the Opal/Tang. The only T100 left in the shop!
Glad the Mrs. likes it. Maybe will want one, herself.
Bob

I noticed something about my Bonneville. This is about the eigth bike I have owned and my wife has never looked twice at any of my motorcycles. With the Bonneville she has walked up and sat on it in the driveway several times. Is that what is so appealing about Bonnies? That they are so approachable and simple to hop on?

I couldn't muster any enthusiasm about riding a motorcycle from my wife until I had a Bonneville in the garage. I caught her sitting on it in the garage several times. She started referring to it as "her" bike and signed up for the Motorcycle Safety Course to get her license.

There is definitely something "special" about the Bonneville
CHICK BIKE!! :-D I just couldn't resist.

My wife has also confessed that she has lusted in her heart for my Bonnie. Haven't been able to get her beyond her 125cc scooter yet, but she will in time. A year ago she was terrified to get on a 50cc scooter, then out of the blue decided to take the MSF course and get her license. Her biggest fear is being able to hold up the bike when stopped. I told her not to worry, someone would help her pick it up.

I just got my bike a couple of weeks ago and my wife started pressuring me to give it a name. Not just any name, but a "girl's" name, and a bad girl name at that! I kicked around a few ideas but finally settled on Roxy.

I think my wife views the bike as the embodiment of her secret alter ego. This calls for a bit more investigation. I may keep you guys posted as to what I discover. Then again, maybe not.

Hey KingBear! My bike's named Roxy too. Now what? Is there room enough in this world for TWO Roxy's?

Since you it's a Brit bike, maybe she is checking the driveway for oil stains?

Got a couple compliments on the bike today, when I stopped to get gas and air in my tires. The attendant was from England, and he thanked me for riding Triumph. And the guys in the shop all came out to look at my bike when I was getting air put in the tires - asked what year it was and I got the usual surprised responses when I told them it was new. A lot of people like the Bonneville. I rode it to a hot rod show in Asbury Park, NJ and even there it was getting checked out while it was parked.

Even my mom likes it (but hates that I have a motorcycle).

Since we are on opposite ends of the continent I'd say there's plenty of room. But should our Roxies ever come together.......well, see Geoff's comment above.

:lgh:

Seriously though, I think the appeal of the Bonneville for women is that the bike itself just looks approachable - it's not huge or extreme. You're not stretched out over the tank or hanging from the handlebars. Not leaning way back or dragging the ground. It's a simple bike with class, good looks, and sex appeal. The fact that our women like the bike shows that we've made at least two good choices in our lives!
