Just purchased a 2002 Bonneville and I'm very happy with it but it did not come with the key to the fork lock.

Its Sunday and the dealer won't be open until Tuesday so I'm wondering does anyone know if the dealer will be able to get or make me a key from the serial number of my bike and looking up the dealer/service records on line from Triumph.

I had the bike inspected (Pennsylvania requires an annual state safety inspection) at the Triumph dealer on Saturday and they put my info on the Triumph data base as owner.

Do you know if it's the same dealer that sold the bike originally? If so, I think that they would have the key numbers for the bike. If not the same dealer, you may possibly have to find and contact them to find out.

Does anyone actually use the steering lock?
When I bought mine the dealer basically told me not to use it as it is a POS.

I use the steering lock all the time, but if I didn't have it I'd just get a smal disc lock to lock it up with.

The stock steering lock is not the best in the world, there's a routine to locking it (just like using a centerstand or kick starter) that some people never get . A lot of my "old" motorcycles had the same type lock so I have no problems with it.

I use the lock all the time, and the trick seems to be how LITTLE effort it requires - after the first couple of tries I was going to give up, and a friend tried it and SNAP -instantly it worked.

The trick seems to be turning and pushing a little while simultaneously turning the handle bars JUST A LITTLE, and it's done.

I use that and a disc lock.

man, I love my bike.
