Other Motorcycle: 2006 Triumph Scrambler
Greetings to the forum. I would appreciate anyone's advice on my growing interest to purchase a new T100 to compliment my new Scrambler. I have two bikes in the garage now (the other being a VRSCR Harley-Davidson Street Rod), and I would like to keep two bikes. (The wife thinsk the idea is stupid, however). I find I enjoy riding the Scrambler so much that the Street Rod is collecting dust, and so I have thoughts to trade in the 640 lbs. Harley and get something else instead. I have thought about a Ducati S2R 1000, but I keep coming back to how comfortable I am sitting on the Bonneville. If my Scrambler is a good guide, I find the Triumphs to be very affordable and are a lot of fun, such that I am very pleased with this motorcycle company. Two local dealers have the tangerine/white T100 in stock and I wish one was mine.

This is my question. Is the Scrambler I own too similar to the Bonneville T100, such that I would be silly to have both bikes? Personally I have not found a bike, for the money, that I like any better and would consider buying. Compared to my Scrambler, which I dearly love and will not trade, the T100 is different enough in these areas to make me believe I would not be bored with ownng both bikes: true road tires for better traction and a smoother ride, a lower and very comfortable seat height, a slightly more powerful motor, and a 360 degree crank (verses the Scrambler's 270 degree crank, high seat, lower horse power, and knobby trail tires).

Your comments would be most welcome.

Have you given any thought to a Thruxton or a Ducati sport 1000 or a GT 1000...

Too similar? Dude it's like dating twins. Sure one might have a nicer face, but the other has better boobs, but come on they are pretty much the same girl. If you're lucky enough to have two babies, get a blond and brunette. Check out the Ducati GT 1000 and remember, you're living every mans dream. :-D

I think that the Scrambler is just a disguised Bonnie and the differences are purely cosmetic. Both serve exactly the same purpose: Short to medium range cruisers!
I also would like to have a second Triumph “companion” for my T100 but I will opt for a “long haul”. Therefore I’m just waiting for the disclosing of the new “Tiger” 2007. Apparently it will be an improved and more comfortable long-ranger.

"This is my question. They're more different than the same, and having owned a Bonneville before the Thrux, that is yet a different ride...you should own every variation of the Twin as you can.

If you want both and have the means, then go for it! There's not law against having two of the same bike.. These two may be just enough different to really be different rides..

For instance, you can't be Steve McQueen on a T-100, you would need the Scrambler for that. If you have a bit of unpaved roads to ride, take the Scrambler, if your cruising the town take the T-100!
