Don't know if this is something anyone would be interested in, or could possibly do a sticky on it. I put together this list of questions to ask potential sellers of Triumph Bonnevilles that I was looking at buying. My dad who used to own a Norton helped me put it together along with some old manuals. I think it is pretty good. It was for the 1972 T120V I just purchased the other day so some of it is specific to that model. However, I am sure it can be modified and or used on other similar models. I added the model year, manufacture month and frame/engine numbers after I bought it. I am sure I forgot some important stuff, but this seems pretty complete to me.

Hey Bombman......
Thats one heck of a list.....unfortunately.....I usually buy on emotion....and then end out figuring out whats wrong with the bike after I have already bought it......

Bought a bike or 2 over the internet.....that always makes me nervous....buying from a tele call and some pictures....Thanx for the list!!

I'd say for our bikes, being much newer, as well as overall mechanical and cosmetic condition, my main concerns would be:

Establishing/verifying ownership history;
If it has clean title - AND, in present owners name;
Any accidents/been dropped;
Maintenance history (includes condition of tires, brakes, chain, etc.);
Where was the bike kept (in garage or outside);
What mods have been done (and, if EFI, does it have appropriate tune).

Oh, and I would not finalize a deal (i.e. hand over cash) on any bike without seeing both the bike and the ownership documents.
