A couple of cosmetic bits



1) Top red circle. How do you cover that hole left by the screw stock mirrors? (which I removed and replaced with bar ends)

2) Bottom red circle. The rubber handle does not cover the whole of the bar, I tried to warm the rubber with a hair drier and some alcohol underneath it as suggested but it didn't work, couldn't stretch it one millimeter, any other suggestions?

You can buy special blanking screws for the mirror holes. I've seen them on ebay and most after market Triumph parts stores sell them. They're expensive for what they are, you might find bolts with the same thread in a DIY store.

The best way to remove the grip is to use a long thin screwdriver. Wet it with wd40 and carefully wriggle it along the inside of the grip. Then squirt a little down the sides of the screwdriver using the long nozzle and rotate until it loosens.
To replace - clean off all traces of WD40, spray the inside of the rubber grip with hair spray and replace. The hair spray will lube it long enough to be positioned and will set in a few minutes.

For re-use of holes in future

Undo the two screws holding the clamp on. Rotate that part of the clamp 180 degrees (so mirror mounting hole is on the bottom). Reinstall screws.

or

No future re-use

Take a hacksaw and cut mirror mounting hole stud off. Use file to final shape aluminum. Go to gun store and pick up some Alumanum Black. Blacken clamp and reattach.

3) Tank Warning Sticker... Remove sticker by lifting one corner with a toothpick or fingernail, then peel off sticker. Remove remaining residue with lighter fluid or WD40. (WD40 will also require the use of a little elbow grease.)

bike's not new, 3yo, and I quite like that warning sticker on the tank..

You can get a black plastic cap to cover that mirror hole at Home Depot for about $.38.

LOL... I dislike warning stickers. After I read them once, they just become visual clutter.

I wish mine had a "flash to pass" button like yours does though... I'm a little jealous.

As "J" above suggests, you can get the plastic plugs from HD or Lowe's. I started with that and it wasn't clean enough for me. I then started to consider the screws you can buy from many of the vendors but when I looked at the cost, it didn't make sense. If you want the cleanest option, you can buy the clamps from British Customs that don't have the mirror base on them. Cheap? No. But when you consider how much the screws are and how clean the new clamps are, makes sense in my book. Just another option for consideration...
