My rear sprocket bearing went in the first couple of hundred miles. Done under warranty, fortunately.

Pads were very badly worn , only 5500 km also the piston is quite slow to retract so pads are on order and ill take the caliper off tomorrow and pull it apart to see what i can find
cheers

Other Motorcycle: Don't need another one!
Because of the position of the caliper they get covered in crap and it's not unusual for the piston to become a bit sticky or even seized, hence the tendency to eat rear pads on occasions.

the final update on this saga
rear disc replaced
rear caliper overhauled with new pistons [ scuffing marks on old ones] new seals fitted
new brake fluid
new pads [ metal gear]
and still the grinding noise would come and go so today i fitted genuine triumph brake pads [actually SBS] and on measuring both sets found the metal gear pads were 1mm thicker so no wonder the pistons would not retract all the way in as there was an extra 2 mm of brake pad to compensate for !
oh well its all good now and a lesson learnt
