Hello everyone its me again all this is a learning process me so please bear with me
Ive just bought a fender eliminator from jenks bolts all fits great looks amazing. Ive got the indicators working fine and the brake light comes on when i put the brakes on but a cant get the light to stay on constantly ive attached some pics of where i am with it, the lucus light came with just 2 wires a red and black dose it need to be earthed? Thanks Matt

You have the right idea. It should be grounded (earthed) to the Lucas light frame. Everything else looks good. I think you have the right wires going if I remember correctly. If you have any more questions let me know and I can take my seat off and see what connected to what.

Yep - that's right, its not grounded. You should have a black wire from the HARNESS (NOT the black from the light). This is the ground wire. Put a ring connector on it and bolt it onto one of the light's mounting bolts.

When you have it working perhaps you'll be considering a LED conversion?

Right im going mad i tried earthing the wire, but all it did was make the light brighter when i press the brake then and it doesn't stay on Also now the lights behind the rev counter, speedo fuel injection light have gone of but sometimes come on depending on what wires i have conected. But even then they come on when i put the brake on. Im a bit stuck to be honest any ideas? or anyone have a wiring diagram?? Thanks Matt

PS im not saying what you guys have said is wrong im sure its something ive done

Yeah that would be good ive tried and tried and triple checked the wire diagram but its still not working

Check your fuses. I think you blew one.

yeah gonna do that next ill check them first thing in the morning am i looking to make sure they arnt split inside?

Yeah I had to replace one when I did my FEK. Check them all because if I remember correctly the fuse that blew was not the one I thought when I looked at the diagram. Good luck

This is a problem of compatability the Lucas light requires more Smoke than a modern bonney is capable of putting out! This light will require an aux smoke generator/accumalator to make and store the requisit smoke required by this unit.
As these units are hard to come by I will describe It kind of looks like a small Mason jar with a wire soldered on the lid on one side and small dia hose leading to a funnel on the other. Mount the device near the offending part attach the wire and mount the funnel in a location where it will capture wind while traveling. Next is the important part you will need a Churchill cigar, light it and place it in the mason jar just before riding and........Wait for it ........ Bobs your uncle!!!! The faster you go the brighter the light will stay!
Now if you have never had an old triumph bike or car you probably won't find this answer humerous but those of us that have been suffering for years with Lucas electrics will.... Good Luck!
