Single Seat & Rack Kit w/Cowl?

Can I put a cowl on this if I remove the rack kit? I find the rack kit good for touring but otherwise would prefer a cowl when not in use. If I ever go two up I'd put the plank back on.

I hear these are really comfortable. Is this referred to the "solo seat" or is this it?

Yes sir. i did it with mine. I used short bolts to keep the pieces together since the rack screws also hold the plastic trim piece to the seat pan. I have the sixty8 cowl. Not sure if it's the same cowl as one from the Thrux but someone can probably chime in and tell us.

Someone will chime in with the answer. But, if memory serves, I have read a post somewhere and this has been done. And yes, that is a single seat.

Well, I believe the top photo is often called the Scrambler Solo Seat.
I don't think the bottom one pictured takes a cowl. No side screw bosses.
The top one definitely takes a cowl without the rack attached. And it is very comfortable.

I have the Sixty8 series seat with the cafe cowl. Thinking about where the screw holes are on it, I think they are roughly in the same place as the picture of the rack. The only difference I think is that from what I remember there is not much of a dip to the rear seat where as on the picture of the rack seat it looks like there is a significant dip, or just no rear seat at all. I will try to get a picture or two of my seat with, and without the cowl on for you tomorrow if I get a chance.
If the rack and cowl are interchangeable then that would be great for switching between a cafe and touring set up.

Just ordered it from MADDS. Seems to be a very flexible combo. Look forward to it.

Where do I get a cheap black cowel? Do I look for a Thruxton cowl somewhere?

That's the hard part. From what I hear the sixty8 cowls are discontinued. That's why I was asking about the Thruxton seats. But there's always ebay for either one. Or maybe some supplier will still have one in stock. They're not cheap new.

As for the dip, the cowl bites the seat the tiniest bit at the front middle but it looks great and doesn't leave a mark. The cowl screws on at the screws on the raised part of the sides.

FWIW, license plate reflector bolts are a perfect fit. I removed the stock side reflectors and use the red ones on my seat - cowl or no cowl. The cowl also fits the sixty8 Contemporary Seat which is smaller and more shapely than the stock seat.

So either cowl should fit? I am likely gonna get the bike painted at the end of the project so as long as I can find a cowl that fits thats sorta black for now ill be in good shape.

Any cowl will fit the Single seat and rack with the rack removed. I've had this setup on my Bonnie for a while.
