swing arm

Does anybody know if there is bushing or something like that in the swing arm that would need to be replaced at some point. Have 79000 miles on it think some thing would need to be checked or not

Thanks
Jerry

Yes by god yes. Search for posts by me to see what that probably looks like back there. There are a two sealed bearings and a roller bearing and sleeve, plus seals, and mine had disintegrated. Further, the pivot bolt was totally corroded and had to be drifted out.

You can source replacement bearings locally if you need them, but unlike the hubs you can forget pressing them in yourself without specialized tools. I took the bag o bearings and bare swingarm to the dealer and paid for an hour of labour. Was worth it.

Unless it's acting up, just plan to pull the swingarm on your next rear tire change. Mine was creaking, and no wonder. It's on my regular inspection now.

Though I didn't take a photo of what's left of the roller bearing. I kept it though, as a souvenir.

There are bearings, dust seals and bushes. If the seals are good then most likely all else is good. But if you end up going to the trouble of checking the seals then you might as well check the bearings and relube all.
