I have a 2006 Bonneville (Black) and I'm hoping to install a Ram mount or something similar to to hold my iPhone 4S while riding. (Sucks to pull over and fish it out of a pocket to check the map, especially that there are turn-by-turn directions on the iPhone now.)

I'd most like to make it center-mounted from the stem, not the handlebars, but the Ram site isn't very clear on whether the base (RAM-B-342U) will mount well into the stem tube.

Has anybody done this? Would this combo work?

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I thought I'd offer an alternative. Cell Buckle : http://www.thecellbuckle.com/ I've never used this product, but I saw it on an episode of American Chopper (they sponsored a theme bike). I'm contemplating trying it for my phone. They have sizes that fit both 1" and 7/8" handlebars.
