Relays flopping in the breeze...

So I had a great ride today- warmest, sunniest November day I can recall - and when I got back did a little maintenance. Removed the left side cover, and saw that the two electrical relays were hanging by their wires - down around the air filter opening (no snorkel). Each one used to have a rubber sleeve around it (apparently made by the same supplier who produced the battery hold down strap) which fit over a tab on the frame. The rubber is toast. I'm wondering if someone else had this problem and came up with a better solution than just buying replacements. I assume that the relays need some vibration isolation from the frame. Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated.

I put a zip tie around the deteriorated rubber to hold it all together.

I wrapped it with black electrical tape. Ghetto, I know, but considering the quality of the rubber, the same could be said for the stock holders, and yes, the battery strap. Still holding up.

I used two rubber bands and some foam tape. I figure they'll probably need to be replaced about as often as the air filter.

I used zip ties. The rubber parts for the relays are not available in the Uk. Battery strap is. I believe the relay rubbers are pretty generic so some research may find an identical part elsewhere. All the flimsy rubber parts on my '04 have gone.

Yes they're available. Part number T2500259 costs around a couple of quid from the likes of Lings (world of Triumph) or indeed any dealer.

My relays fit into seperate holders and were held to the air box by the , now, non existant rubber holders. This diagram seems to show the relay holder as one block held down by screws. Maybe '25' is a rubber anti vibe cushion or waterproof cap.

You seem to be looking at item 24, that's the fuse box. The drawing is a bit vague but those items are a like a square rubber holder with a slotted section that fits in the tongues that are built into the airbox. I've just received a couple from Lings today...they look like these:



They're fitted to lots of Triumphs, the Sprint for example. Here's some in an advanced state of rot and decay:

I bought one at the dealer recently for my starter relay. They had it on the shelf and
though I don't remember what it cost, it was cheap. The rubber they use is garbage,
but if you have to replace them every 5 years or so it isn't really a big deal.
