So I'm going to fabricate my own airbox removal for the Thruxton (2005) and am currently running TOR pipes. I'm still hesitating if I will go for the predators or not (I do like the TOR's). I'd like to know what work needs to be done inside the carburettor (jet sizes and needle shims) for the following situations:

- K&N cones and TOR's
- K&N cones and Predators

Any tips and tricks that may smoothen the process of performing the modifications are welcome. I've already read alot around here, but still...

I had 150 mains, no shim/thruxton needles, and 42 pilots when I was still on CVKs/pods/D&D slip ons...this would be similar to your setup with Predators. I had the thumbscrew-type mixture screws, so you're on your own for how many turns out...

TORs would have a smaller main jet...never had those pipes, so someone else will need to chime in...

Just my opinion, but I don't see much use in all the work for doing the ARK and spending the money on the pods, only to have all that airflow bottleneck at the silencers. I guess to each his own. I know many like the sound, but performance-wise, the TORs don't really deliver.

I have a 2006 Bonnie, K&N pods, Stainless Ride Vincent style pipes (probably flow much the same as predators with a little less noise). I have 145 mains, 40 pilots two and three quarter turns out, Thruxton needles, no shims. 63hp on the dyno, 73nm. A/F in ideal range throughout the rev range. Very happy with the performance, very torquey machine. Hope this helps but each bike is a little different. Some time on a good dyno is money well spent.

Any issues with the stock pilots?

When I had Preds and Uni pods, I had 145 mains and two shims. With 40 pilots, the mixture settled in at around 3.5 turns out, so I went to 42 pilots with 1.5 turns.
