tire/tube question for 2005 Bonneville

Hi,

I bought the 2005 Bonneville when it had 28k miles in July 2012. My cousin who came to visit us rode it for 2.5k and rest 2.5k I used for commute. Time has come to change the tires. The existing rear one is Bridgestone Battlax BT-45R 130/80-17 M/C 65H and front one is 100/90-19 M/C 57V Metzeler Lasertec . Both needs to be replaced. After searching this forum and other forums on tires/tubes, I found that Avon Roadrider is most preferred by Bonneville riders. But they are bias-ply/cross-ply. The question is shouldn't radial tire be better than bias-ply/cross-ply due to technological improvements (googled the topic and got the info)? How is that there are no preferred radial tires for classic/stock sizes? Could existing Bonne riders give their comments/advice? Also what brand of inner tubes are preferred in bonnie community?

Thanks.

Online search provides inner tube options as standard, heavy duty (3mm thick) and ultra heavy duty (4mm thick) Bridgestone TR-4 Valve stem. Should I take the standard one?

Pirelli Sport Demons are cross-ply unlike the OEM Metzelers which were radial-ply.

I can tell the difference though, the Pirellis are a lot better .

Dunlop GT501 is another well-regarded possibility.
