Same here. I've got an acewell 4453 ordered and on the way here (from Germany). Should be here any day now. They gave me some specific bonneville wiring diagrams that I can share with you. Lets keep the tips and experiences flowing so we can all benefit.

That would be great. I think I'm supposed to get wiring diagrams too.

Got my Acewell gauge in the mail today, only had to wait 3 weeks for it to arrive snail mail from Germany. Happy that it made it here safely!
It looks great. Will be very nice on the bike.
Opened up the box and was surprised by how many plugs, sensors and adapters it includes. This gauge has a bit of everything...
Sad bit is I'm so busy right now that my install might be a ways off. It's going to be hard to wait. I'll keep you updated.

Had a little time last weekend and fabbed up a temp mounting bracket out of wood. I think it looks pretty sweet. Such a cleaner view from the saddle.
Think I might shift it about a 1/4" farther out from the bars. What do you think?

This way the easy part, next is metal bracket and wiring.

I installed my 2856 aaaages ago now. It's been fine, but I dislike the blue lighting.
The speedo adapter works just fine, and I wired the cluster to use the stock connectors. I also made a breakout box that handles the CEL and Low Fuel indicators, so it triggers the Alarm light and causes the fuel level bar to flash, respectively, when either is triggered. A pair of relays and some creativity can be used to recreate it.
Edit: Have a photo.

Casida,
The blue light is one of the main reasons I went with the 4XXX gauge, I too don't like blue lights. With the 4xxx you can adjust the backlight to any color you want. Also, I prefer the needle tach vs. digital.
How did you mount to the top triple? I'm thinking of cutting a bracket out of 1/8" aluminum similar to the wood template I made.

The 2xxx series come with bracketry that I had to apply a slight bend to (no big deal to do this cold.) After that, I took a spare top clamp I had, drilled a centered hole just behind the divot for the original gauge's speedo cable, then tapped the hole to M8x1.25. Anchored with appropriate hardware, and all has been fine and dandy. =) I got rid of (As you can see) most of the wiring ugliness, too, by running all the wires through the handlebars.
I'm trying to not be TOO picky, but I might end up with one of the 4xxx series, just because they do look both more period and ARE NOT BLUE. Grr. I can't wait 'till blue LEDs fall out of favor again.
