My Bonny has lost power.....
Hope someone can help. Here's the lowdown.
2009 Bonneville T100. Staintune Exhausts, Arrow 2-2 Map, no other engine mods, original taco and speedo removed, using mini speedo now.
Yesterday, I swapped my bars to New Bonneville Super Bars. Since then, when I accelerate in any gear the revs go up, the exhaust sounds the same but the power doesn't come. The bike gathers speed but VERY slowly despite the noise the exhausts are making.
Before the bar change, everything else was running fine. I have no EFI light to know if it's a fuel injection issue so I thought I'd check here for ideas before going to the dealer.
Fuel is the same as I always use, 95 Octance unleaded. Can't think of anything else I've done recently to change it - actually I put a new battery in at the same time but can't see how that has any relevance.
The throttle isn't sticking - thought I might have done something to the cable when changing bars but again the engine seems to sound OK, just no power.......
Any thoughts?

Yes, sounds like clutch slipping. Do you have any play or slack at the lever?.

Hope it is just the clutch.

No need whatsoever to run 95 octane in your bike.

We have a winner. No idea why but lost all play in the cable. Simple fix and back to normal now.
Thanks.

The dealer told me not to run higher grade fuel in the Bonny, and specifically to avoid Shell V-max here in Australia as it doesn't do the engines any good.

I don't see how it would do the engine any harm although the same would not be true of your wallet and I doubt you'd see any advantage from it.

In Europe we use RON, and 95 octane is not particularly potent. The other measure is MON, and the US uses RON + MON / 2. Therefore, US fuels for public consumption tend to max out at 91 octane. This is what is probably causing the confusion. Standards - don't you just love 'em?
