Where are Triumphs Built

Hi
I have read conflicting report as to where Triumphs are made, one report said Hinckley and one said Thailand, which is correct?

Sorry just noticed I have posted in the wrong section

The answer is both. Thailand make the Bonneville range for non European markets. Until recently at least, all other bike were made at Hinckley.
Certainly all bikes for Europe plus Tiger 800, Tiger 1050, GT etc at still Hinckley.
The Thai factory also makes a lot of components and sub assemblies for the UK factory. All engines are still made at Hinckley inc those for the Bonnevilles assembled in Thailand.

Interesting. According to the VIN for my 2010 Bonnie, bought in the US, was made in the UK.

This what Triumph have been saying for the last three years. However, as the Thai built bikes are identical to the Hinckley built machines, there would seem to be nothing to stop them shipping machines from the UK to the US if necessary.

This might be a case of not doing a search on the forum, the last time this was asked it went on for a decade or several

Sorry but I did a search, it came up with 20 pages of possible results, looked at 7 or 8 that looked interesting, didn't give me any relevant info what so ever so asked the question.

I will for the rest of the day write.

I cut and pasted the following from the third or forth post from the aformentioned link:

the 11th VIN position is used to designate the Assembly Plant. J = Jacknell Road, Hinkley, England. T = Chonburi, Thailand.

As far as I know, all Bloor Triumphs have either a "J" or a "T" in the 11th position in the vin. Of course, as stated, this only determines final assembly, not where any or all of the components are built.
