BC 5 3/4 Headlight

Ok I performed a few searches and I did not find a thread about a headlight swap. I'm looking at the BC headlight bracket and a black 5 3/4 headlight from ebay. My question is has anyone performed this swap and if so was it difficult and were there any issues and/or tips you have for the below average handy man? I understand that I will need to relocate the rectifier and does anyone have any suggestions for the rectifier relocation. I'd prefer not to move it above the oil cooler and put it somewhere more discrete.

Many Thanks!

Brit Customs also has a relocation bracket for the rectifier.
I have not done a headlight swap but there is a lot of wiring in the stocker.

The smaller headlight makes for a nice cosmetic change, but one question...do you ride at night? If so, maybe you want to think about how much the stock light illuminates things and realize you're cutting down on the available light by a significant margin.

Just sayin' in case you hadn't considered that...

Cheers,

I hadn't considered a drastic change in illumination but I don't tend to do too much riding at night. Either way it doesn't appear to be a hugely popular mod. I'm hoping it's not do to difficulty.

I swapped the headlight on my Speedmaster. As long as you know how you're going to be mounting the replacement, it's not a terribly difficult mod. The most difficult part is figuring out what to do with all of the wiring that's in the stock headlight. As kenneth_k and easttex mentioned above, there's a surprising amount of wiring crammed in there.

I attempted this swap today, forgot about the rectifier relocation aspect of it so that put it on hold. I can say there's ZERO way to put the stock wires in the BC mini light. The light requires splicing as well. We're thinking about stuffing most of the wires under the tank somehow. I also noticed that the stock light has a mini bulb beneath the main bulb, no spot for it in the mini light so I'm assuming you just unplug and remove it.

The link shows some pictures of where I put mine. I upgraded to a MOSFET reg/rec at the same time. I got the idea from other posters on here, and it seems to be a great improvement both cosmetically and from a charging point of view.

Is there another source for a rectifier relocator than BC? They've been out of stock with them for months. Same with the front turn signal relocation brackets.

Update:
I mounted the light today. Really dig it. Trickiest part was re-running the nest of wires normally in the headlight bucket to under the tank. Looks super clean and custom, I put a xenon bulb in, high and low beams seem better than stock thus far.
