Bonneville T100 headlight replacement

And here's the first one after introduction...
I need a headlamp for my T100. Thing is, I haven't seen my bike yet, just bought it from the States and it's currently somewhere on the way to Europe. It has some easy-to-fix cosmetic damages, one of them being a headlight and I wanted to prepare all the parts before it arrives.

I figured that Bonnie, Scrambler and Thruxton aren't sharing the same size of the bucket. What's the size on Bonnie? 7"? I've also browsed through eBay searching for replacement but I only found Lucas buckets for vintage Bonnevilles and none for Hinckley T100.

Is it possible to fit this? - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Motorcycle-Hea...item3ef89e3815
Bear in mind that I have no problem with little splicing, wiring and such if it fits and looks as close as possible like stock unit. I have also bought original Triumph brackets in chrome to replace stock as left one is a bit damaged.

Thanks for any/every help and advice on this!

Bear in mind that the original headlight houses an awful lot of wiring. The Lucas style ones will fit it all in, but you'll have to enlarge the hole a tad. The 'bucket change' thread has the info where I got mine from, but if you have a search there's plenty of information on here about lights and such.

Bobbo,

Thanks for the tip, I have found the thread here and a link to eBay. I went through the items of that guy and I can practically assemble a whole unit from him - get a chrome bucket with rim and a wipac beam... roughly 65 pounds. He also offers a full unit in a black bucket for like 55 pounds. I don't think these are much different from separate parts he lists. I saw Marelli beam too which might be better but it's only UK spec.

About the wiring, maybe I should go your way if what you got was enough to fit all the cables and connectors, although I can't imagine what is "awful lot of wiring" inside a simple headlamp? A square 3 pin for a main beam and a small one for "position" (parking) light, right? Anything else in there? Maybe OEM connectors are too bulky?

I know, I should be patient and wait for the bike to arrive but I have a friend in London at the moment and for another week or so and I can use him to bring all the stuff instead of shipping, customs and unnecessary expenses.

Hey BG, there's an awful lot more in the headlamp shell of a Bonnie than just the headlamp wires. It seems that most of the loom runs up to the headlight, hides in the shell with all their many connectors and then runs back down the bike to various places. The real biggie is the regulator rectifier connector, although you may want to consider re-routing it seeing as though you're starting (partially) afresh. Have a search for regulator upgrades or relocation, but it is a bit of a suqeeze to fit all the cables and connectors in there the way that Triumph did. I'm sure there are plenty of folks more knowledgable than I that can tell you exactly what all the bits and bobs are, though.
