Same old Problem

It seems to be a common problem with the twins...unlike others I was about 200miles from home when it happened to me...lol
I laugh because that's how my luck runs: )
Goes like this Stop for lunch then time to leave.
I put the key in, put it in neutral, turn key on, push the button...5 guesses as to what happens next???? That's right click, click...God
So I take it out to the street and push, push, push jump on, pop the clutch and ride home.
Next day I pull the battery and take it to eurosport so they can check, the battery is good to go and I know it not the kill switch because I rode her home.
My next move is jumping the solenoid to see if the starter turns if it does good that will be out of the way....O I forgot the fuses are all good! Now I am assuming that when I pop the clutch to start the bike, that tells me the kick stand safety switch is not the problem.
Then I'll check for loose Ground wires and things like that....Yes I have no headlight as well: )
After all that I'll buy the 13 dollar relay.
The bike ran perfect going home so the alternator is good I guess.
Did I mention that it is nice to see Triumph not only made a retro style cafe racer but they also brought back the electrical/wiring problems as well...lol, now all they need to do is slap some Amal carbs on it and I'll be right at home.
This is my rant...please let me have this one.
I love these bikes and would never think of getting rid of her.

Sounds like what my bike went through a year or so ago, ended up being the clutch switch, I wired around it directly from the starter switch to the starter selenoid. Kick stand still operates normally.

think BIG!

If you're an experienced rider and ride in corrosive weather, best to wire round both the side stand and clutch switch. Save a lot of hassle.

Thanks guy's
No corrosive weather here.
I plan on wiring around both but I'm lazy and only do these things after they strand me in the middle of nowhere or at least try to strand me.
Yep PieMan, experienced rider I am.

plodalong gotta love them classic twins

ignition switch?

rocket,

I had your exact symptoms, clickety-click / no go / no headlight and it was the ignition switch that was faulty. I'm not the only one to have this happen, thread here:

Thanks johnyC I'll give it a look see.
I know its something simple...I think I'll start there and move through my list until I find my gremlin.

I appreciate all the help but really I was only ranting: )

So I am blind: )
I looked at all the fuses and could swear they were good but I checked one more time out in the sunlight and sure enough good ole #9 has a hairline fracture...My baby is purring again.
