E-Bay Thruxton

Hi, thinking of trying a bid on a Thruxton on the dreaded e-bay. Bike a bit too far away to have a quick look. Have been in touch with the seller, he say`s he`s been running the bike with TOR`s on with no carb mod`s & no air elimination kit, the downpipes are the bluest I have ever seen on a Thruxton and it`s only done a couple of K. Does this seem normal ?

A link to the ebay listing for posters to have a quick look would help. Just a thought.

That sort of blueing is more or less normal after 2000 miles with the AI system still fitted.

yes mate, this is normal. my first thruxton had very blue pipes which i liked until it began to fade with the removal of the AI. As for jetting, you can get away with just tors on standard jetting as they dont flow much better than stock. i take it your in the UK and the thruxton you mean is this one:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2007-TRIUMPH-T...#ht_500wt_1182

its a nice bike and will go for cheap! they always do on ebay. However in standard trim they are a bit flat. However with this site if you so wish you can really liven her up. Good luck with the sale and ill be around if you have any more questions. Chris.

this one or this one:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2004-TRIUMPH-T...#ht_500wt_1182

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2008-TRIUMPH-T...#ht_504wt_1166

Are you after carbs or injection? carbs are easyer to play with if you dont like computers?

also how old are you? and are your wrists good?

The original black one will go for about £4100. where as the 2004 has been run in and is set at £3700 though will need a service at 10000. but is a better bang for your buck! Also if you are older then you will find the high rizers with renthals good but if your wrists are ok then you could sell them for £100+ on ebay and make the price of the bike £3600(technically). The 2008 one is nice but its going to go for about £4500 and there really isnt an extras that you couldnt buy later for very little. Also the seat is just a different colour and no different in comfort to the standard! Although because it was built in 2007 it has a black engine which is.....well black(personal preference). Also the chequered strip is now a stripe on this year model(again personal preference).
All in all if i was going to go for any id go with the 2004 as all models are the same (bar paint). But with this one you could sell the extras and make money on it? it also has a fly screen which trust me is worth its weight in gold. Two things i would do is ask the 2004 if it still has the cowl(just to make sure) and also get it with a new mot. But that is just my opinion. Cheers Chris.
