Speedo out

I was riding yesterday, when I noticed my speedo cable came loose from pod ( switched to the mini tach and speedo-months ago). I went ahead and placed back in but it still does not work.

Any possible solutions or do I need a new speedo?

Use a little BLUE loctite on the threads and your problem should be fixed.

Thanks but the actual speedo does not work. I placed the cable back in to no avail.

Check the drive end, on the front wheel, make sure it is screwed in.

As a last check disconnect the speedo end and rotate the front wheel, You should be able to see the end of the cable rotating slowly. If so the gauge is broken. If not then the worm gear is probably stripped.
Considering the price it must have some guarantee. At least a year I'd have thought.

Or more likely, the inner cable is broken. Disconnect the cable at the wheel and pull the inner out. You will soon see if it's broken.

Thank you all for your help. The cable does turn, so I guess the speedo just crapped out.
