Installed adjustable A/F mixture screws today on FCR carbs - with pictures.
bike is running awesome aside from intermittently backfiring through the carbs at idle, and had become so sick and tired of having to pop the carbs out of the manifolds to tilt them to the side to get a screwdriver up the hole everytime i wanted to make an adjustment. also tried fabricating my own tool to adjust them while they are on the bike, but it's very difficult on the clutch side since the carbs sit so close to the engine, and it was tough to know if you were even turning the screw and how far it actually went if at all. i''ve had these sitting around but had been hesitant to install them because it involved drilling out the existing hole to 1/4 ", and i didnt like the thought of taking my drill to the FCR's, but bit the bullet today and wish i would have done so months ago. start to finish was about 15 minutes, from draining the bowls, removing them, drilling them out, cleaning them, removing the old screws, installing the bowls then installing the new screws. super easy, and i can even experiment and adjust these while i am out riding and its way more precise. no more pulling the carbs to turn the screw 1/4 turn! it's also nice that they are numbered so it's super easy to make fine adjustments.

these are all over the place. you can just google 'FCR fuel mixture screws' and find several places that sell them, some in different colors. some also have just knurling on the end, but i like the ones i have because they are low key, and have the numbers on the knob end. they were $20/each screw. i've seen them from other vendors anywhere from $18 - $32/each. i got them from these guys:
www.stealthracingtech.com
the guy who owns the company was pretty helpful with customer service and responding to emails, and was pleasant to chat with on the phone, but didnt tell me upfront that i had to drill out the hole in the float bowl, and was a bit pissed that he didnt tell me upfront, but they are all like that to install.
i also have one of their aftermarket accelerator pumps, but haven't installed it. talked to a few guys at local shops and they all dont believe in them and say they dont work or add anything special. i guess its redesigned to allow more fuel to be delivered when the throttle is cracked and will prevent the bog down/hesitation that results from opening the throttle too fast, a result of not enough fuel being delivered. this aftermarket pump is supossed to cure that. i may pop it on eventually for grins just to see what happens, but wanted to dial the bike in without it first.

You like the look of them David - pop a pair on your Bonnie, you'll LOVE the FEEL of them. They make the bike pull hard man, very hard.

i cant recall which ones i got, but i am almost sure they weren't the ones for the DRZ. the one thing i did was just email them with a picture of the carbs and asked which ones would fit and they set me up with the correct ones. i deleted all the old emails so i dont know off the top of my head, but they were pretty fast to reply.
