Thruxton tires & mirrors

I have a 2005 Thruxton with the original 'clip-on' handlebars.
Please could anyone advise on tires for the Thruxton, as well as the best way to mount CRG mirrors, preferably incorporating handlebar end weights as well.
Thanks.

Hey ldggray,
Just came across this:

http://www.newthruxton.com/html/bar_end_mirrors.html

Might help with the CRG question. My Thruxton was bought used and already had the CRGs installed.

Thanks again!

This is exactly what I've been looking for.
How do you like the CRGs?

Hi ldggray,
I do like the CRGs, but I had a scary experience with both of them.
On the turnpike at 65 mph one of the mirrors seemed to be getting loose to the point of falling off. I tilted the mirror in and continued to ride to my destination. Then the other mirror got loose and I had to fold that one in as well (to get the mirror parallel with the windstream so it wouldn't blow off). So I was riding at highway speeds in NJ traffic with no mirrors. Not so good. When I got where I was going I noticed there was no apparent place to tighten the mirrors to the stalk. Fortunately, there was someone in my riding group at the meet-up who suggested I remove the mirror glass from the metal backplate. I did that which uncovered the hidden allen head screws that hold the mirror to the stalk. So I was able to tighten up each mirror (with red loctite), put the glass back in and enjoy the rest of the day. The good news is that once tightened, even with the folding feature, the mirrors stayed clear and in place north of the "ton". So as long as they are secure they are great. Good luck and ride safe.
