Coloured springs on Ikon Shocks
I am close to ordering a pair of Ikon shocks for the rear of my 2010 Thruxton. They will be the 7614 with custom made springs to suit my weight and riding style. I have always thought that the springs would be black (my Thruxton is Black with Gold stripe), however I am just curious to know what would coloured springs, red or yellow, look like. It does look good on some bikes and I understand that a Thruxton may not be one of those bikes.
What do you guys think ?
Can anybody please post a picture of a Thruxton/Bonny/T100 with coloured springs - I think if I could see a picture it would make up my mind.
Thanks in advance - Ray.

If nobody has any pictures, you could get some colored electrical tape and wrap it around the springs on your bike and get a good idea of what it would look like.

I wanted to get mine (7610s) in blue, was told by the vendor that's not available.
I wonder how difficult/expensive it would be to remove the springs and have them powder-coated. Might as well do it while there's four feet of snow on the ground.

Ray - I've often wondered about that myself. Specifically, I wanted to see red springs on a black and red T100 (since that's what I have). Unfortunately, I yet to see a pic of that.

Marty - After you powder coat your springs, I bet a pair of matching blue Pazzo levers would look great.

... along with a blue Beringer brake caliper, expensive though, €400+.

Coloured springs
A trick I use is to get a photo of your bike or similar and load into ur computer. Then open it in edit and use paintbrush to change colours ,draw in screens /racks rub out mirrors. I perfected this on niteshift ha ha..

Coloured springs on Ikon shocks
Calling Houston - what a great ides to wrap electrical tape around the springs - worked a treat - I bought some yellow and red tape and by stretching it a little as you follow the coils around, it moulds itself around the spring material - I could see axactly what it would look like - the yellow didnt work at all - stood out like dogs nackers - the red however looked alright but I chickened out because its the only thing thats red on the whole bike and probably just looks a bit out of place - so I tried some black tape which looked good so the conservative side of me rears it head.
So it will be black springs against the alloy body of the 7614 Ikons.
Thanks to the other replies for taking the time.
Let the good times roll - Ray.

Glad to have been of help. I've used electrical tape for a lot of things other than electrical uses. The flexibility comes in handy. I've been thinking of going with the red springs on my Thruxton. Of course, being Tornado Red, it should look OK........unless the reds are different shades, then black will be the next option.

I would think that the heat from powder coating would screw up the temper of the spring.

I doubt that the heat from the powder coating would bother the spring at all. The manufacturers do this all the time.
