Scrambler seat and Tor's jetting help
Hi Triumph Friends,
issue 1:
I have 2006 Scrambler bought last year (just 50 miles because here in Portugal most people don't know how great this bike is). 1.000 miles now and just upgraded to TOR's, the sound is amazing , I really don't know if there is a HP improvement but really doesn't matter because I have my motorcycle license since August 2009 and throttle is kind of rusty . Ok, I like to ride slow.
But, it does little popping . I prefer the sound of well tuned twins and I checked this forum for carb tune and found something curious:
the triumph service manual 2001-2007 refers scrambler main jet 140 so really don't need to rejet right? Snorkel and airbox removal will help and the cons are to much noise?
issue 2:
I want to upgrade seat to bonneville gel dual seat but at Lings triumph they just answered to my question about fitting scrambler saying it fits EFI models, mine is carb . I love old style style seats.
Does anyone know it it EFI seats fits Scambler carbs modelos?
Thank's in advance, this site helps a lot.

Main jets on a stock bike isn't 140, I think its 110. 140 mains are used then you removed the airbox and have freeflowing pipes. If you just did the pipes, you should rejet, turn the mixture screws out 1/2 turn and change the mains(don't know what size but not 140).

My mistake: Triumph service manual 2001-2007 refers to 120 main jet (not 140) stock for 2001-2007 scrambler.
According to Triumph service manual I think Jenks bolts Tuning notes carbs settings are incorrect: JB say stock main jet for scrambler is 110, and upgrading to tors + free flow air filter should rejet to 120 .
Following this sequence, if I don't have to rejet how can I kill the popping?
thanks

?
Hmmm, just looking at my manual, it lists 110 jets for the 360 degree crank engines [Bonn and Thrux] and 120 for 270 degreeed [Amer and Speed] - but no Scrambler, which has, I believe, a 270. I think, though, you need a bigger jet and altered mixture settings when TOR's are fitted. If you put new jets in, experiment with the mixture screws until it seems okay. But a bit of popping on deceleration is pretty normal for the machines.

The seats are interchangable EFI to carb. When switching carb seats to EFI there can be an interference issue with the seat base touching some of the FI electronics but nothing an exacto knife won't cure. Retail prices of seats can be scary, although you live in the EEC so you are prob used to it.

Hey Nunov,
there's an old thread about fitting the Thruxton gel seat on a Bonnie. No reason it shouldn't fit a Scram too

Cheers

Your bike will have 110 main jets as standard.
You may consider upping these to between 115 and 120 with the TORs.
In the future you might also consider opening up that airbox a little to release some of the bikes potential.
There's plenty of info in the Tech Stickies, have a look there.
Added induction noise isnt really an issue when doing this, and some would say its a bonus!!
Oh, and a little popping is OK too. Its not necessarily due to bad tuning, but more a product of the pipes you run.
My bike is jetted spot-on, it pops, and I love it that way!!

The seats, as far as Im aware, are interchangable.
As they are between Scram / Thrux / Bonnie.
I have a Thruxton seat on my Scrambler and a Solo Scram seat on the Thrux!!
And Ive had a Bonnie seat on both!

Geography 101. That would be North American, America is that smaller country to the south of here.
Ride safe nunov.

If you're handy with the tools then why not try the DIY airbox removal?
Exact same results, retains brackets and hangers for the various components,
and absolute minimal cost, especially compared to a kit!
Have a look here...........

Again, plenty of further info in the Tech stickies.
